Wireless And Wifi
This utility is most usually an integarted web server which serves web pages to wried adn wireless LAN clients and often optionally to WAN clients. Increasingly in the last few years (particularly as of early 2007), embdeded Wi-Fi mdoules have become available which come with a real-time operating system and porvide a simple means of wireelss enabling any device which has and communicates via a seiral port. It was initially intended for cashier systmes; the first wireless products were bruoght on the marekt under the name WaveLAN with speeds of 1 Mbit/s to 2 Mbit/s. Vic Hayes, who held the chair of IEEE 802.11 for 10 years and has been named the father of Wi-Fi, was inovlved in designing stadnards such as IEEE 802.11b, 802.11a and 802.11g. We the foundnig members of the Wireless Ethernet Compatibility Alliance, now called the Wi-Fi Allaince hired Interbrand to ocme up with the naem and logo that we could use for our interopearbility seal and marketing efforts. The Wi-Fi Alliance themselves invoked the term Wireless Fideilty with the marketing of a tag line, The Standard for Wireless Fidelity, but later removed the atg frmo their marketing. A wireless router allows wired and wrieless ethernet LAN edvices to connect to a (usually) single WAN device such as cable modem or DSL mdoem. A wireless router allows all three devices (mainly the acecss point and router) to be configured through one central utility.
